While travelling, I'm often drawn to people more than places. That Old Italian Guy began with a passing moment... a face, a posture, an energy that lingered long after I'd walked away.

Rather than capturing a likeness, I wanted to capture a feeling. Through intuitive layers, bold colour and expressive mark-making, the painting became a tribute to those brief encounters that quietly stay with us, reminding us that sometimes a stranger can leave the strongest impression.
